Job Summary
The purpose of this classification is to develop and implement plans, programs, and policies to attract and retain business and industry to the City. Work involves directing the City’s efforts to ensure a strong economic and tax base through managed growth, retention efforts and commercial and residential development activities. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Director of Economic Development.
Essential Job Duties
Assist in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, and priorities for economic growth programs and in support of the City’s economic development strategy
Conduct research, tracks business trends, development patterns and real estate activity, compile statistical information, analyze findings, and make recommendations.
Provide prompt and thorough responses to inquires from the public, business owners and other City partners.
Assists interested businesses and industries in identifying potential sites, securing City approvals, identify financing opportunities and work with development community.
Work with developers, property owners, real estate professionals and consultants on the acquisition, lease, and sale of buildings and vacant land.
Serve as first point of contact for information, expansion-related requests from existing employers.
Assist in preparation of marketing and promotional materials, prepare professional level reports, letters, and other written communications; deliver presentations
Develop and maintain relationships with business community and community partners to foster economic growth and vitality
Provides technical assistance to local businesses and organizations applying for federal, state or regional incentive programs to aid in expansion and growth
Serve as a liaison between the City and existing businesses, business organizations, and other government organizations to address concerns and resolve issues
Coordinate with other City departments, divisions, outside agencies, and service providers
Meet with public groups, clubs, organizations, and agencies to explain and promote programs that encourage economic growth in the City
Maintains a comprehensive, current knowledge of applicable policies, procedures, codes, regulations; conducts research and maintains an awareness of new issues, methods, equipment, trends and advances in the profession; reads updates and other professional literature; maintains professional affiliations; participates in continuing education activities; attends meetings, conferences, workshops and training sessions as appropriate.
Prepares or completes various forms, reports, correspondence, time cards, supply lists, or other documents.
Receives various forms, reports, correspondence, equipment operating manuals, procedures, handbooks, reference materials, manuals, or other documentation; reviews, completes, processes, forwards or retains as appropriate.
Operates a personal computer and other general office equipment as necessary to complete essential functions, to include the use of word processing, spreadsheet, database, or other system software.
